OXIOS! To Our New Metropolitan
Following the retirement of His Grace Mathews Mar Barnabas in January 2011, the Holy Church has appointed His Grace Zachariah Mar Nicholovos to assume charge as the new Diocesan Metropolitan of the Northeast American Diocese. His Grace has served as the Assistant Metropolitan of the then known American Diocese and the present Northeast American Diocese since 2002.
The new Diocesan Metropolitan will be returning from India on Friday, March 11, and will be received at the airport by his prececessor, His Grace Mathews Mar Barnabas Metropolitan, the Diocesan Council, and Managing Committee members. The clergy and faithful of the Northeast American Diocese will receive the new Diocesan Metropolitan in a traditional and ceremonial manner at the Diocesan Headquarters in Muttontown, New York.
Upon arrival to the Diocesan Headquarters, the Metropolitan will offer prayers of intercession to St. Mary the Mother of God and all the Saints at the St. Thomas Diocesan Chapel in Muttontown, followed by Vespers and a brief public meeting.
The Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Fr. John Thomas, requests the clergy and faithful of the Diocese to participate in receiving our new Shepherd in Christ on March 11, 2011.
