Seeking your Support for Relief Efforts in Kerala
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
As many of you are aware, our home state of Kerala, India is undergoing a severe flood crisis. There are no words to describe the chaos and destruction the flooding, and also mudslides have been causing. Already, over 320 precious lives have been lost. We grieve knowing this death toll will only increase, along with illnesses, shortage of food, water and other resources.
Kerala is not a foreign land to us. Kerala is considered to be the cradle of Orthodox Christianity in India, and the very land where Saint Thomas the Apostle evangelized. This is the land of our ancestors, our grandparents, parents, the very land which raised us in the Christian faith. It is important that we offer our unceasing prayers for our brothers and sisters during this calamity.
Our corporate prayers for Kerala have moved the clergy and faithful of our Diocese to help . All parishes of the Northeast American Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, are actively involved in the relief efforts for the Kerala Floods coordinated by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
If you wish to offer a tax deductible donation for the Kerala Flood Relief efforts, checks are to be made payable to the 'Northeast American Diocese.' Please be sure to write 'Kerala Flood Relief' in the memo line. Your generous donation can be sent by September 8th to:
2158 Route 106
Muttontown, NY 11791
May God move each of us to be vehicles of His love and mercy, especially through the relief efforts for Kerala, India.
Yours in our Lord,
Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Metropolitan
