Ninth Hour on Saturday
Qolo
Like a mighty sounds of thunder the voice of the trumpet will sounds and will not leave Sheol, the devourer, the odor of
the clay of Adam; with one sound it will raise up the whole raise of Adam and that which was corrupted shall be clothed
in garments, which do not grow old or corrupt, in the new life forever.
Glory be to the Father...
Glory to you, heavenly king, hope of all the departed; when you come at the last day to render to every man according to
his work, when the wicked shall be punished in fire and the good shall inherit the kingdom; have compassion on us Lord, at
that hour and make us to stand at you right hand on the day, when you majesty appears.
The above selected prayers are taken from the Book of Common of the Syrian Church, otherwise known as
the Shimo Namaskaram as translated by Bede Griffiths from Syriac to English. A full copy of the rich
prayers of our tradition can be purchased directly from the publishers at Gorgias Press.
